Cavalleri Mattavelli Sas. was founded in 1922 (with the name of Cavalleri Preti & C.). First we manufactured especially bread-kneaders, no longer made after 1975. Since about 1940 we have principally specialized in machines (“mills”) of fine grinding for inks and paints. The biggest production of 3 roll mills was towards 1965. After 1965 we developped the present pearl mills, but for quality results today again we prefer the 3 roll mills. The ball mills have a very diversified production. They are the ancestors of the pearl mills, but with independent evolution.

These machines are excellent for fine grinding of thick and high quality pastes, through a continuous process with easy way of cleaning.
Generally our types are defined according to the length in mm of the grinding board of the cylinders, with rolls in chilled iron or in hardened steel, inside with water circulation, but also with rolls in diorite or in ceramic material. The pressure system of the rolls may be with manual mechanical wheels, or with 1 or 2 manual hydraulic pumps, or with a motorpump more or less automatized. The production types are usually preferred with inclined chassis.
